From 23/10/2018 to 26/10/2018
We are O&T
is the congress motto of the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2018.
Whether in clinic or practice, in the operating theatre, in the research laboratory, in the rehab clinic or in the emergency medical service: Orthopaedics and Traumatology stand for professional treatment of injuries and ailments of the locomotor system. This year’s congress motto We are O&T addresses the variety and the wide range of our shared field. No other congress in Europe offers a greater platform for professional, collegial and academic exchange than the DKOU 2018.
10 years after the foundation of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma (DGOU), the congress is the signature feature for the successful merging of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Germany. Outstanding examples for the efficiency of our work are the nation-wide “Trauma Network“ and the endoprosthesis index that could be realized thanks to the extraordinary dedication of many individuals and the relentless work of our expert associations.
A current challenge is the digitalisation in O&T. Smart implants, wearables and big data applications have the potential to revolutionize our therapeutic options and are a major chance for the future. The counterparts are the risks of a digital process optimisation and economisation specially for the protection of the personal patient data entrusted to us. Here we are all required to help shape the dynamic development.
A significant threat to patient safety are implant associated infections. They pose severe complications and are increasingly caused by multiresistent germs. Due to the high clinical relevance, we will take up this difficulty as a main topic. We will discuss both measures for improved prevention as well as solution strategies for the therapy of manifest infection.
The aspiration of the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology still is a high contentual quality both with regard to the broadness of the field and the differentiation of the subspecialties. Sections and cooperating expert associations are noticeabely integrated in the congress programme. This offers sufficient space for the presentation and discussion of the latest results for the representatives of the field’s spine, hand and wrist, arthroscopic surgery as well as those of sports medicine and rehabilitation. The participation of our guest nation, Great Britain, in the individual main topic sessions allows for border-crossing scientific and professional exchange which all participants will surely benefit from.
We cordially invite you to participate in the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2018.
Come to Berlin, join the discussion, co-create our field actively. Only together we can say: We are O&T!
